Chemicals that Melt Ice Also Break Down the Surface Layer on Concrete

Power plants, like many facilities, use excessive chemicals to melt ice on concrete. The chemicals break down the surface layer of the concrete, causing premature concrete failure, tripping hazards and an almost immediate need for replacement or repair.

Damaged concrete like this threatens the stability of the structures on it. It cannot effectively be repaired with conventional concrete due to lack of strength and/or adhesion and will get worse over time due to freeze-thaw and possible chemicals in the area.

The ENECON solution makes an effective repair by restoring the support structure — and providing excellent resistance to future chemical attacks from industrial chemicals or from winter de-salting chemicals.
