The following photos detail the first of six impellers restored by a local wastewater treatment plant in southern Florida. Each impeller costs over $6,000 new with a 22-week lead time.
The impeller surface was abrasive blasted to a 3 mil profile. To rebuild the impeller vanes, expanded metal was cut & formed on the deteriorated leading edges of each vane, then faired with DurAlloy, allowed to cure, and sanded back to the manufacturer's dimensions. This was followed by two coats of CeramAlloy CL+AC, one gray, then one blue.
Instead of sending this impeller to a pump shop, the county mechanics completed the restoration in-house using ENECON products.
After hands-on training, the team successfully repaired the damage themselves — saving both time and money. Now, they've completed several impellers using the same method, fully restoring critical components and improving pumping efficiency.
