Large Pump Columns Restored and Protected With DurAlloy, CeramAlloy & CHEMCLAD
A leading industrial service contractor in Texas was selected to refurbish several large pump columns/casings for a major power generation facility. Years of service had left the columns with extensive corrosion and severe pitting on both the internal and external surfaces. The objective was to restore the damaged components and provide long-term corrosion protection rather than replace them.
Following abrasive blasting, the severely pitted areas were repaired and rebuilt with METALCLAD DurAlloy. Once the repairs were completed, two coats of METALCLAD CeramAlloy CL+AC were applied to the interior surfaces, providing exceptional long-term corrosion protection. The exterior surfaces received two coats of CHEMCLAD GP.
The success of this large-scale repair has already led to additional work at the power facility. A second pump is scheduled for refurbishment later this year.
The facility has requested the new components be preemptively protected using ENECON's CeramAlloy CL+AC and CHEMCLAD GP systems before being placed into service.
